Program Overview

The Doctoral Internship in Professional Psychology at the Lukin Center for Psychotherapy is a comprehensive, full-time training program designed to prepare future psychologists for the realities of modern clinical practice.

The program is currently designed to align with AAPIC and APA standards, with a formal goal of achieving AAPIC accreditation by the 2027-2028 academic year.

Training Goals & Objectives

The internship is designed to help interns achieve competency in the following areas:

Build, manage, and maintain a sustainable clinical caseload

Understand billing, reimbursement, and revenue flow in private practice

Provide culturally informed and responsive care

Professional Identity

Develop confidence and autonomy as an early-career psychologist

Consultation & Collaboration

Work effectively within a group practice model

Professional Branding & Practice Marketing

Curate a professional digital presence and leverage modern marketing strategies to drive practice growth.

Meet Your Director of Internship Training

Dr. Brian Amorello serves as the Director of Clinical Training, overseeing programs dedicated to cultivating the next generation of psychotherapists. A PsyPact-licensed psychologist in New Jersey and New York, Dr. Amorello holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Seton Hall University and completed his APA-accredited internship at the University at Buffalo.

He brings extensive expertise to his mentorship, specializing in CBT, DBT, and CBT-I. His clinical background spans LGBTQIA+ issues, chronic illness, anxiety, and depression. Blending evidence-based practices with a client-centered approach, Dr. Amorello provides interns with a supportive, rigorous training environment, empowering trainees to achieve their professional goals and build strong clinical identities.
