Diana Capani, LAC

Psychotherapist

Diana Capani, LAC, is a psychotherapist who works with children, adolescents, young adults, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, school-related stress, identity exploration, family changes, transitioning to college and career life and emotional and behavioral concerns. With over a decade of experience as a professional school counselor in New York and New Jersey, she brings a strong understanding of child and adolescent development along with extensive experience collaborating across educational, clinical, and community-based systems and resources.

Life can be challenging, overwhelming, and at times feel difficult to navigate alone. Diana is here to provide a compassionate, supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered as you develop practical skills and strategies to manage life’s challenges and rediscover a greater sense of balance, peace and joy in your life.

Her clinical approach is integrative, person-centered, and trauma-informed, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused, child-centered play therapy, expressive arts, and Bibliotherapy. Diana provides developmentally informed, strengths-based treatment that is responsive to each client’s abilities and family system.

Diana’s experience includes individual and group counseling, parenting support, crisis intervention and planning. She has experience working with persons diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, adjustment disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, executive functioning weaknesses and other behavioral and mental health challenges. Her broader background includes child welfare and protective services and workforce development programs supporting individuals facing trauma, chronic mental health challenges and systemic barriers.

Diana earned her Master’s from Hunter College in School Counseling and holds a Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University.  Diana completed an internship at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, where she worked with individuals and families impacted by chronic illness and significant social and economic hardship.
