Basya Gruber, LSW

Psychotherapist

Basya Gruber is a Licensed Social Worker who specializes in working with children and their parents through play-based, developmentally-attuned therapeutic approaches. She supports children experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges, including anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and trauma. She is passionate about helping children build emotional awareness, regulation, and resilience through play therapy, as well as strengthening the parent-child relationship.

In her work with children, Basya utilizes evidence-based play therapy approaches, including Synergetic Play Therapy, recognizing play as a powerful and natural language through which children express emotions, develop emotional regulation, and process their experiences. Within the safety of the therapeutic relationship, she uses attunement and co-regulation to help children better understand their emotions, regulate their nervous systems, and move toward healing. She works collaboratively with parents throughout the therapeutic process, offering guidance and practical strategies to help strengthen connection, enhance communication, and support lasting positive change.

Basya’s professional experience includes working with children, adolescents, parents, and families across a variety of settings, including schools, community mental health organizations, and outpatient therapy environments. These experiences have strengthened her ability to thoughtfully adapt therapeutic interventions to meet each child and family’s unique context and needs.

Basya earned her bachelor’s degree from Bellevue University and her Master of Social Work from Rutgers University with a concentration in clinical social work and a specialization in children and adolescents.
