Lisa Barrows, Psy.D.

Dr. Lisa Barrows is a licensed psychologist specializing in therapy for individuals, couples, and families facing relational dynamics, trauma, and adjustment disorders.  

She also works with athletes, providing specialized support to enhance their performance,  manage pressure, and promote their overall mental well-being.  

Dr. Barrows understands the powerful impact of culture, religion, gender, family narratives, and past experiences on our lives. She integrates these crucial aspects into her therapy, empowering clients to overcome obstacles and smoothly transition through life’s changes.  

Taking an integrative approach with a strong foundation in attachment-based therapy, Dr.  Barrows tailors treatment to your unique needs. She incorporates effective elements from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), alongside other interactive approaches, to provide comprehensive and effective support.  

Dr. Barrows brings a wealth of experience to her practice, having worked with diverse demographics in various settings. Her background includes supporting high-performing school districts, providing crisis intervention in inpatient hospital settings for both children and adults,  and advocating for specialized learning and gifted services within schools. For over a decade, she has served families in Bergen County public schools and has conducted research in sleep studies.  Dr. Barrows earned her doctorate from Fairleigh Dickinson University after graduating from  Johns Hopkins University.
