Brian Amorello, Ph.D. Assistant Director of Clinical Training, Licensed Psychologist Dr. Amorello is a licensed psychologist in both New Jersey and New York specializing in a number of issues, including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, adjustment, substance abuse, LGBTQIA+ issues, and dealing with chronic pain/illness. He sees adolescents and adults and he has extensive experience in couples/marital counseling. He believes that a client-centered, compassionate approach is essential to his work in helping people achieve their desired change. Dr. Amorello helps his clients establish their own goals that are relative to the people they wish to become. He empowers them to make themselves the most important person in their lives. Dr. Amorello believes that a safe and honest environment is a key component to creating change in his clients. He uses a variety of therapeutic approaches grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Within this framework, he integrates mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and dynamic orientations. He tailors his work based on client presentation so his approach fits nicely with how clients feel most comfortable in session. He has completed specialized training in CBT, DBT, and other essential modalities. As a former researcher, he has presented his work on LGBTQIA+ issues and dealing with chronic illness/pain at various local and national conferences. He is also certified in CBT-I (CBT for Insomnia) for clients who may have mild to severe sleep disorders. Dr. Amorello has earned a doctorate (PhD) in Counseling Psychology and a Master’s in Professional Counseling from Seton Hall University. He completed an APA Accredited Internship at the University at Buffalo’s Counseling Services and Post-doctoral training at the University of the Sciences Student Health and Counseling in Philadelphia. Dr. Amorello is a PsyPact licensed psychologist, meaning he is able to do virtual therapy with clients who live in 43+ states nationwide. He is our Assistant Director of Clinical Training, and leads a variety of programs that cultivate psychotherapists of the future. Dr. Amorello is the team leader in our Jersey City office. In his spare time, Dr. Amorello enjoys spending time with his family and friends, international travel, and seeing live football games, concerts and plays.
