Konstantin Lukin, Ph.D.

Dr. Konstantin Lukin is a licensed clinical psychologist, author, speaker, and researcher with specialized expertise in men’s mental health, couples counseling, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). He is the Founder and  Chief Clinical Officer  of the Lukin Center for Psychotherapy, a leading evidence-based mental health practice serving northern New Jersey. The Center is renowned for its commitment to scientifically supported treatments, offering a range of services including emotion-focused therapy (EFT) for couples, and cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies (CBT and DBT) for children, adolescents, and adults. Since its founding, the Lukin Center has grown into a multidisciplinary practice offering comprehensive psychological assessments and psychiatric medication management.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Lukin is known for his warm, collaborative approach, providing clients with practical strategies and compassionate support to address life’s personal and interpersonal challenges. He tailors treatment to each individual, drawing from a diverse array of evidence-based methods—including CBT, schema-focused therapy, and EFT. His work emphasizes helping clients build on their strengths, develop emotional resilience, and achieve meaningful personal growth.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Lukin has a passion for the psychology of performance in high-stakes environments. His early experiences, shaped by intense competition, complex team dynamics, and mental pressure, sparked a lifelong interest in helping high performers across fields refine the mental side of their game. Today, he brings this expertise into his work with athletes, guiding them through performance anxiety, mindset training, and the development of mental resilience, both on and off the field. In recognition of his expertise, he serves as a founding member of the Board of Advisors for the School of Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he helps guide initiatives in sport performance and athlete wellness.

Dr. Lukin also has extensive experience treating individuals with serious and persistent mental health conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He has co-led group therapy programs for individuals with OCD and is proficient in administering a range of psychological assessments, including neuropsychological, cognitive, and personality evaluations.

Dr. Lukin earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is a graduate of the Honors College at SUNY Stony Brook.

A respected voice in the field, Dr. Lukin is a frequent guest expert on television and digital media, offering insights on men’s issues, couples therapy, and evidence-based psychological treatments. His appearances include CBS News, HuffPost, and The Lisa Valentine Clark Show. He has presented lectures at institutions and professional conferences such as Hudson Community College, the Eastern Psychological Association, the Society for Personality Assessment, and the American Psychological Association. He is also the co-host of the podcast The Last Session of the Day with The Psych Guys and leads the Lukin Center’s popular YouTube channel.

AUTHOR

Dr. Lukin is an active contributor to both academic literature and mainstream media. He co-authored a chapter in The Routledge International Companion to Gifted Education and is a regular contributor to Psychology Today, Men’s Journal, Parents Magazine, and Mind Journal. His academic publications appear in respected journals such as the Journal of Addictive Diseases, Anxiety, Stress & Coping, and Individual Differences Research. He has also presented his work at national conferences including Fairleigh Dickinson University and the Society of Behavioral Medicine.

RESEARCHER

Committed to bridging research and practice, Dr. Lukin has participated in multiple research projects throughout his career. Notably, he contributed to two National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)-funded studies: the Child/Adolescent Multimodal Study and the Survey of Outcomes Following Treatment for Adolescent Depression. His academic work includes a master’s thesis on the taxometric analysis of personality disorders and a doctoral dissertation examining treatment adherence in children with anxiety.
