Sherlenne Francisco, Psy.D. Psychotherapist Dr. Sherlenne Francisco is a bilingual clinical psychologist and postdoctoral fellow with specialized expertise in providing therapeutic services within a wide range of clinical settings, such as schools systems, outpatient clinics, and private practices. She has been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She utilizes a multidisciplinary and client-centered approach with her patients. Her notable clinical interests include anxiety disorders, mood disorders, depression, childhood trauma, and family advocacy work. Dr. Francisco’s theoretical orientation is influenced by the biopsychosocial model which best describes her holistic approach to treating the whole individual. The biopsychosocial model encompasses a full understanding of the experience of the individual patient and has become imperative for accurate treatment planning, good outcomes, and overall care. When working with individuals, Dr. Francisco finds it essential to take a holistic approach to comprehensively understand the complexities of the individual’s well-being. Within the biopsychosocial approach, Dr. Francisco feels confident in her decisions during intakes, treatment, and future recommendations. Through adequate investigation into teach patient’s history and experiences, she gains a better understanding of what may be impacting them, which in turn allows her to adequately establish a treatment plan to best support her patients’ needs. With the different experiences Dr. Francisco has had, personally and professionally, she has developed a deep understanding and appreciation for marginalized and underserved families. The unique needs of diverse children, adolescents, and adults may require additional time and research into the client’s background, modification to evidence-based interventions, and selection of appropriately normed assessments. Her training and areas of expertise have provided Dr. Francisco the opportunity to successfully work with Patients whose demographics, characteristics, culture, and perspectives vary from her own. Dr. Francisco holds a Psychology Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University. In addition, she received her Master’s of Science in Child Psychology and doctorate of Psychology degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA.
