Dana Ergas, Ph.D.

Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Dana Ergas is a clinical psychologist who specializes in using evidence-based treatments in her work with adults, especially those experiencing concerns related to trauma, anxiety disorders, and obsessive-compulsive and related disorders.

Dr. Ergas implements treatments rooted in research while tailoring each intervention to meet the unique needs of every client. Her approach includes consideration of the client’s individual background, life experiences, and personal characteristics when delivering mental health treatments. She specializes in treating symptoms related to trauma/PTSD, anxiety disorders, and OCD. She believes that one of the core aspects of successful therapy is building a trusting alliance between the clinician and client. Therefore, her work takes a collaborative approach, where she aims to work together with clients to facilitate personal growth, improve coping skills, and increase well-being.

While completing her doctoral internship at the Syracuse VA Medical Center, Dr. Ergas provided mental health services to adults where she served as a member of the PTSD Clinical Team, general mental healthcare team, and member of the psychological assessment team. In this role, she completed training to become certified in cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for PTSD/trauma. She received extensive training in treatments including CPT and prolonged exposure for PTSD, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD (and related disorders).  While completing her doctorate degree, she specialized in working with people who face chronic stress due to marginalized aspects of their identity (such as gender and sexual orientation) to better understand how to foster adaptive responses to long-term stress experiences. She worked in a variety of treatment settings including a Veteran’s hospital, outpatient mental health clinic, community mental health clinic, university counseling center, and primary care setting.

Dr. Ergas holds a doctoral and master’s degree in clinical psychology from Binghamton University in Binghamton, NY. She also holds a bachelor’s degree, with honors, in psychology from Boston University.
