Providing evidence-based therapy in Northern New Jersey
Couples counseling at the Lukin Center focuses on helping couples achieve their relationship goals using an Emotionally Focused Therapy framework. Because each romantic relationship has its own unique obstacles and challenges, our team will work with couples to meet their individual needs. Our psychologists utilize specialized techniques and therapeutic tools to help couples improve their relationships by identifying the dance of negative interactions they are engaging in and establishing a new pattern of acceptance and support.
Individual therapy focuses on challenges an individual might face, such as depression, anxiety, and poor self-esteem. At the Lukin Center, psychologists use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address these challenges when treating Mood, Anxiety, and Eating disorders. CBT is a short-term, goal-oriented psychotherapy treatment that uses an evidence-based, scientifically sound approach to reducing your symptoms and enhancing your quality of life. CBT seeks to help people change their thought processes and reactions for the better.
Unfortunately, children and adolescents also experience depression and anxiety, as well as exhibit oppositional and defiant behaviors, as they often struggle with difficult feelings or unhealthy relationships that can impact the rest of their lives. Facing these difficult or complex emotional issues as children and adolescents makes them particularly vulnerable given their lack of life experience and coping skills. Through personalized CBT treatment, psychologists at the Lukin Center will examine the sources of your child’s symptoms, analyze the emotions associated with them, and identify how your child can make changes to set the stage for a happier, healthier future.
As clinical psychologists, the clinicians at the Lukin Center are fully trained and qualified to conduct Neuropsychological Evaluations, which can include assessments across multiple domains, including cognitive, achievement, personality, or neuropsychological, or assessments within one domain. Neuropsychological Evaluations include thorough clinical interviews, including gathering historical information, and the administration of tests. Neuropsychological Evaluations are invaluable in determining the appropriate diagnosis or treatment plan for an individual as these evaluations provide information that cannot be obtained otherwise.
